Mayor Jim Watson, with Kanata South Ward Councillor Allan Hubley, today presented the Mayor’s City Builder Award to Tom Flood for his dedicated volunteer service in the community.

Mr. Flood has had a positive impact on the community through his extensive service over many years in a variety of community groups in Kanata. He has held executive roles at the Glen Cairn and Katimavik Hazeldean Community Associations, Glen Cairn men’s softball, the Holy Redeemer Church foundation committee, the Hazeldean Lions Club, the Goulbourn, Kanata and West Carleton Community Resource Centre, and the Kanata Sports Club.

He has served as President of the Ontario Funeral Service Association, is the two-time recipient of the Kanata Volunteer Award, he was a recipient of the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship in 1999 and received the Kanata Good Corporate Citizen award in 2004.

In his business and volunteer activity, Mr. Flood has served Kanata with outstanding distinction. He has been committed to fostering a positive image of Kanata and dedicated to maintaining a superior quality of life for Kanata residents.
