Blog: Ottawa Tops the List of Best Places to Live – Again!

In case you missed it today, Ottawa has been named as Canada’s best place to live by MoneySense Magazine. It doesn’t come as a surprise to those of us who live, work, play and raise families here in the nation’s capital. Yet, to top the list three years running is an accomplishment that can and should make all Ottawans proud. Every single one of our more than 900,000 citizens plays a role in achieving this type of distinction.
Our local community associations, businesses big and small, our hospitality industry, our too-often maligned transit system and workers, our police, fire and paramedics, our librarians and public health workers, the folks who collect our trash and keep our city clean, everyone who assures we have the best water to drink in the world, the media who tell the story of daily life here in our own city – to name a few – everyone plays a role in making Ourtown such a great place to live.
I don’t want to sound too much like a hometown shill – but, heck, I am!
Last year I spent literally hundreds of hours travelling across our entire huge geographical expanse attending events that were important to individuals, families and businesses. A quick count at the end of the year told me I had attended more than 2,500 such activities. And I can tell you that each and every one was special in its own way, mostly because of the people attending.
Oh sure, I have a number of “official” events that must be attended, like when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in town. But, by and large, I truly enjoy going to events that involve my fellow citizens doing the things that they enjoy most – the things that all add up to making Ottawa the very best place to live in the greatest country in the world.
Thanks Ottawa! You have done it again and made it so that everyone knows just how wonderful it is to call our city home.
